There are many ways to get started to make time for yourself. The trick is picking a handful that you like and working them into your regular routine.
Here’s a list of 10 things you can do as a self-care routine:
Two-day getaway: Plan ahead and book for a two-day getaway. Planning ahead can save you a lot of money in hotel booking and traveling. This will also give you a chance of managing your work well in advance. You will be able to finish or delegate your work and off for a relaxing getaway. Spend that time in reading, taking a spa, or just exploring new places.
Get a hobby: Taking out time in a day for yourself, doing something you love to do is a good way of relaxing. Maybe you like to watch series or knitting or painting or play badminton or sitting a book and a hot cup of tea. What this does is, it gives you a lot of alone time to think about new things or just escape to your dreamland.
Bust a move: It’s important that you stay active for both mental and physical health. Doing some kind of workouts like walking or yoga or running or boxing for 30 minutes minimum is good for your heart. Doing exercise releases endorphins in your body that helps in a better mood.
Book a massage: The best luxury treatment. A massage maybe once in a month or in three months is really relaxing. It’s good for relieving anxiety, stress, joint pains, headaches. You can go with your friend or boyfriend or husband to make it a little more fun.
Bubble baths: A half an hour warm Bubble bath gives you a relaxed and refreshed feel.
Meditation: Meditation has a therapeutic effect on the mind. It clears out negative energy from our body and mind. Just 10 minutes after waking up or before going to bed every day lowers the stress levels and relaxes you.
Digital detox: With everyone active in the digital world, people are almost disconnected in the real world. And social media consumes most of our time. It’s quite a brain-draining to be hooked on the phone watching other’s life and complaining about others. So, ditch your phone for a few hours a week. Instead of social media controlling your time, you take control of your time and switch of social media. it’s very relaxing and soothing for your eyes.
Take a hike: This one is my favorite. Wear your best, comfortable shoes and just walk and explore new places. Spending time outside gives you the best Vitamin N(ature).
See your friends: Plan an evening with friends or have lunch with them. It’s important and feels good to talk to the people you love. I know, we text our friends all the time, but there is something different about meeting them face to face and talking about real stuff or something silly.
Laugh every day: Laughter is the best stress buster. Laugh often and make people around you also laugh. It makes you healthy and boosts your immune system.
And finally, the above tips, of course, will help you with self-care. At the same time, it’s important that you accept yourself the way you are. Accept people’s apology. Try and forgive yourself for things that went wrongs. Forgive yourself for things that didn’t go as planned. Don’t be tough on yourself. Try your best every day and when you falter, be kind to yourself and forgive.
