Lauki ka Kofta with Kasuri Methi Flavour | ,Bottle Gourd Recipe
Loved by everyone, Lauki ka Kofta is a healthy and spicy recipe mostly served as a main course dish. Kids love it specially, as they mostly don’t like eating bottle guard but they enjoy bottle guard in the form of Koftas.

Ingredients
For Lauki Koftas

- 250 grams Bottle gourd (lauki), grated
- 4 tablespoons Gram flour (or as required)
- 2 Green Chillies, chopped(as per the spiciness req)
- 1/4 cup Coriander (Dhania) Leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- Salt, to taste
- 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
To Be Ground To Paste

- 2 Onions
- 1 inch Ginger , roughly sliced
- Green Chillies(as required)
- 5 cloves Garlic
Other Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon Kasuri Methi (Dried Fenugreek Leaves)
- 1 teaspoon Cumin seeds (Jeera)
- 1 teaspoon Coriander Powder (Dhania)
- 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder (Haldi)
- 1 teaspoon Garam masala powder
- 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
- 2 cups tomato puree
- Salt, to taste
- Cooking oil, to shallow fry
How to make Lauki Ke Kofta Curry Flavoured With Kasuri Methi
- Mix all the ingredients for Koftas i.e. bottle gourd, gram flour, green chilies, coriander leaves, cumin seeds, garam masala powder, red chilli powder, salt in a bowl. without adding water(Since bottle guard has a lot of water) ma ake dough of this. Then apply little oil on your palms and make small balls of it.
- Heat a paniyaram pan, drizzle a few drops of oil into each cavity and fry the lauki(Bottle guard) Koftas by flipping to each side till they are light brown. Keep a medium flame throughput the process. Remove it from heat and transfer to a bowl.
- Make a smooth paste of ingredients mentioned under “Ground Paste” with a little water in the food processor.
- Take a kadhai or wok, heat a little oil and add cumin seeds. When it starts to splutter, add the ground paste and saute till the paste is cooked.
- Once the paste is cooked, add all the spices and salt and mix well. Add tomato puree and saute till the gravy comes together and looks cooked.
- Add about 3 cups of water and let it boil for a few minutes. Once it’s cooked, check for salt and seasoning. Add Kasuri methi on top of it and let it simmer. This adds a good aroma to the recipe.
- Add the kofta when you are about to serve or the koftas will become mushy. Serve it with roti or naan.
